Merrell have a philosophy and it's to get more people out and about. Founded in 1981 Merrell have been on top of the footwear trade and have had monumental breakthroughs such as being the first brand to use Vibram soles, now most shoes and boots use a Vibram sole thanks to Merrell. Merrell Shoes have been getting better and better from their start in the 80's and now there is a huge range of Merrell Shoes available to everyone. The range covers everyday shoes to walking and hiking shoes which are designed to be a little more robust to cope with the added wear and tear.

In the women's shoes Merrell use a technology that they call Q-form which is a supportive, sequenced cushioning system that is specifically tailored to ladies and the way that they move and step. What Q-Form does is align your feet in their natural position which reduces the pro and super nation in your knees. This then helps your back and neck keep straighter making you have a better posture and reducing the risk of injury. All this comes from Merrell knowing the if you get your shoes right then the rest will slot into place making for a more comfortable walking experience.

Merrell also use a technology in their shoes, boots, sandals and winter boots called Ortholite and what Merrell designed Ortholite to do is to mould to the natural contours of your feet. Merrell understand that they can't make shoes and boots which are perfect for every shape and size foot on the planet but what they could do is make their footwear adapt to the shape of your feet over time. Merrell footwear with Ortholite technology integrated into them is like owning a pair of tailor made shoes and they become more comfortable over time giving you greater comfort and pleasure over long journeys and walks.

Some Merrell walking boots and shoes have had the pleasure of having a Gore-Tex lining added which makes for waterproof and breathable fun in the wet, warm and dry. Gore-Tex, if you aren't familiar with it, is a lining that allows warm, moist air to escape while keeping liquid water out so keeping your feet dry from both angles. The reason why Merrell like to keep your feet dry is because if your feet become wet then skin becomes soft and it's more susceptible to blistering which of course leads to discomfort. Heat spots are also a major cause of blistering and discomfort which is where Gore-Tex also comes in to help expel hot air and draw in cooler, more soothing air.
